Learn to Skate 2021

USFS Registration

All skaters and participants are required to pay the $16.00 mandatory US Figure Skating Fee annually. Valid July 1, 2020 - June 30, 2021.

Learn to Skate Updated Policies

The Ice Den Scottsdale is committed to offering our nationally recognized Learn to Skate program.  Adjustments to program policies and requirements have been made to ensure a safe environment for all skaters and coaches. Any previous policies have been replaced through the end of 2020.

Until Further Notice:

  • Registration MUST be completed online.  No paper forms accepted at this time.
  • Class Capacity: Registration will be capped and a waitlist generated to ensure class numbers are in line with public health concerns at time of session.  The Ice Den will reevaluate roster numbers prior to the first week of class and make adjustments to levels based on real-time information. 
  • All Level A classes will be 45 minutes in length.
  • All Level B&C classes will be 60 minutes in length.
  • Registration will be available by session only.  No multi-session discounts will be offered.
  • Register early to secure your spot and save with Early Registration pricing.
  • Additional class and sibling discounts are not offered.
  • Gloves are required and masks must be worn by skaters and spectators off ice at all times.
  • Due to current capacity restrictions and ice schedule changes, make-up class skating passes will not be offered at this time.

Please e-mail your Skater Name, Class Day/Time & Level to Admin to be placed on a Wait List.  Rosters will be evaluated the week prior to 1st class and adjusted if space permits.

  • Snowplow Sam 1, 2, 3 (ages 4-5)
  • Basic 1, 2, 3 (ages 6 and up)
  • Pre-Hockey 1, 2, 3 (ages 4 and up. All skaters must be able to skate across the ice unattended in hockey skates)
  • Adult/Teen (ages 13 and up)
  • Parent & Pups: 2.5  - 5 years with an adult

Added Classes

To accommodate interested skaters while capacity restrictions remain in place, the Ice Den Scottsdale has added two classes for Summer Session #1.  These days/times WILL NOT be part of the standard Learn to Skate program once normal annual programming resumes when current capacity restrictions are lifted.

Saturday: 8 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. = Pre-Hockey 3 Players ONLY

Saturday: 12 p.m. - 12:45 p.m. = Level A including Parent & Pup

    *Prerequisite: Must be able to land a consistent Axel .

*Spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will close when capacity is reached.
Classes not meeting size requirements
may be cancelled or combined.

Ice Cafe

  • For skaters all levels, 18 years +
  • 90 minute class
  • 20 minute group lesson held 3o minutes into class
  • Small Chilly Bean Cafe beverage
  • Summer 1 Sunday Ice Cafe now open for registration. See Adult Page for more information

Class size is limited and classes will sell-out.
Do not wait for evaluations to register.

Next session registered skater profiles will be
automatically updated based on skater progress
after current concludes.

Coaches will evaluate all skaters the first week of the next session and make the necessary level adjustments.

Safety Requirements & Guidelines

  •  Masks are optional for all skaters & spectators. Complimentary disposable masks are available if needed.
  • Gloves are required and must be worn on the ice.
  • Skaters/spectators who are currently sick, recently sick, symptomatic or high-risk/vulnerable to illness: DO NOT come to the rink.
  • Social distancing encouraged at all times in the building, including locker room and ice.
  • Do not bring valuables into the building. The Ice Dens are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Skaters are encouraged to bring own tissues and personal sanitized wipes/sanitizer.
  • Follow all posted signs and guidelines.
  • Limit time spent in the facility that is outside of scheduled ice slot. Arrive no sooner than 15 minutes prior to your scheduled session and leave promptly at its conclusion.
  • Enter the rink through the properly designated doors at main building entrance.
  • Participation by online registration in advance only.
  • Two (2) spectators recommended per skater.
