Level A/Pre-Hockey Classes


Parent & “Pups”*, Snowplow Sam, Basic 1, 2, & 3, Adult & Teen

Program Features:

  • Fall/Winter programs are six (6) weeks and Spring/Summer programs vary in length from three to six (3-6) weeks
  • 45-minute session
  • Each session includes 10 minutes of organized warm-up, 30 minutes of small group professional instruction and 5 minutes of practice time
  • Skate rental included (standard skates or hockey skates)
  • Learn to Skate USA booklet

*Parent & “Pups” is a fun, recreational skating class designed to give instruction to children ages 2½ - 5 together with their parent(s).  Registration fee includes one child and one adult.  


Pre-Hockey 1, 2, 3 Program

The hockey curriculum is designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey skating.  Utilizing 3 badge levels, skaters will learn to maneuver faster and be more agile on the ice.  All elements in Pre-Hockey 1 & 2 are taught without a stick or puck to focus on skating techniques at this level. A stick is optional to bring to class for Pre-Hockey 1 & 2 but will only be used at the end of class time during FREE play.   In Pre-Hockey 3, skaters will be required to bring a stick and additional equipment.

Mandatory Requirements:
PH-1 skaters must be able to skate across the ice unassisted in hockey skates ,forward & backward & glide on one foot. 

Required Gear:

Pre-Hockey 1

  • Hockey Skates (rental or personal)
  • Gloves of any kind required
  • Hockey Helmet with full cage
  • Hockey stick is optional but is allowed at the end for FREE play.

Pre-Hockey 2

  • Hockey Skates (rental or personal)
  • Hockey Helmet with full cage
  • Hockey Gloves

Pre-Hockey 3

  • Hockey Skates (rental or personal)
  • Hockey Helmet with full cage
  • Hockey Gloves
  • Hockey Pants/Breezers
  • Hockey Stick

Additional Recommended Equipment:

  • Shin Pads, Elbow Pads, Shoulder Pads and other protective gear.
